Try Stampin' On Tuesday - Challenge #203

I had been wanting to use my Sheltering Tree stamp set so bad! I started with my main image panel and then wasn't sure what to do with it lol. So I peeked at Try Stampin' On Tuesday to get some sketch inspiration.

I was having a rough time with how I was going to do those diagonal stripes in the background. Then it came to me. I rotated the sketch a bit and altered it just a touch but I think it's close enough. What do you think?

SUO Challenge #115 - Valentine Wishes

This weeks SUO Challenge is to make a project that includes valentine wishes. With Valentines just around the corner this is a great time for me to get started on my cards. I chose to use an older set that has been retired but its one of my favorites so I kept it! I just love this set. It has so many good images and words on it. I also wanted to make a fun/interactive card so I did a waterfall card. Super easy to do and is totally a WOW card.

Tim Holtz Twenty One 5 Tag

Well, I decided to give another try with the Tim Holtz products and the 12 tags of 2015 challenge. I really loved how Tim used the words twenty one and then the number 5 for 2015. He's just so clever. :) I'm still very new to the Tim Holtz products and have only used them a small handful of times (even thought I've had them sitting in a drawer for over a year).

I actually used 3 different colored distress paints for the background (Evergreen Bough, Broken China and Pumice Stone) but it appears that only the Evergreen showed up... So I decided to add in a little Pumice Stone with the dot fade layering stencil and distress ink. I actually used the clockwork stencil too but its pretty hard to see. I think it's because I used the Evergreen Bough distress ink on that as well when I probably should have used the Broken China. Oh well. I chose to go with more of a silver theme than gold as I just prefer silver more. I used the botanical remnant rubs and the steampunk and phrases 2 stamp sets for the images. All in all, I think it turned out ok for only my 2nd one. I plan to participate monthly in the tag challenge but we shall see how that goes. I suppose I should actually purchase some tags instead of cutting vanilla paper lol. I'm not really sure what to do with the finished tags though... any tips/advice??

Postcard Traveler

I've been so busy with card kits/classes, blog hops and challenges that I haven't had time to just sit down and create for myself. I've ordered quite a few new stamp sets over the last few months that I had yet to use. So, last night I decided I was going to take some me time and create a card just because.

I just absolutely love the Traveler stamp set. When I seen it, I knew I just had to have it. I'm kind of drawn to the ship/boat stamps because my dad is a boat guy. Not only is he a boat mechanic but he also lives on a boat. When I was young, I did too. Story is I was actually born on a boat lol.. Anyways, when I seen the ship in this stamp set I just knew I had to do something with it and it will likely get sent to my dad. He loves displaying my cards on the shelf in the kitchen of his 50' Troller lol.

Just Sayin' Colored Sketch Mashup

Well, it's been a while since I've used one card for 3 different challenges. I wanted to join in on The Friday Mashup challenge to create a project use the embossing folder stamping technique with different shapes but I had never heard of the embossing folder stamping technique. So I had to google it to find out what it was and then I had to youtube it to see how it was done. Ok, pretty simple and shapes are easy because, well, everything is a shape...

Now I need a sketch to get my creative juices flowing so I peeked at Sketch Saturday.

Ok. Fairly simple sketch. Now, on to ColourQ for the final element.

Not a big fan of Rich Razzleberry with multiple colors but I'll give it a try.

So... here goes:

Well.... my card came out nothing like I envisioned it... I'm not loving it at all. The embossing folder stamping took me multiple trys to get it as dark as it is and it's not as dark as I would like (maybe next time I'll use a less detailed folder...?). If I could do the whole thing over I would likely not add in the Old Olive panel either. It just doesn't fit. Well, that's how it goes. Sometimes you make amazing things and other times you just don't lol. Hopefully I have better luck next time.

Valentines Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp It Group Valentines Blog Hop. You are likely coming here from Liz Miller's blog. If you happened to just stumble across my blog, why not take a minute and visit all the blog participants by using the previous and next buttons at the end of this post to see all the great ideas and projects.

There were so many products I wanted to showcase in this project but unfortunately that would have made a mess of a card lol. So, I'll just have to show them a bit latter. It was very hard for me to choose but I ended up going with a new embossing folder and the chalkboard paper. It's so awesome!!
